Dogs need exercise even before they need affection. (Cesar Millan’s theory, and it works!). It keeps them out of trouble, it helps them fit into the family “pack”.

When I adopted Shorty, my 3 1/2 year old black lab, one of the reasons she adapted so fast to our family was because I made sure I took her for “brisk” walks every day. It helped tire her out and moved her forward. Moving forward, physically, is very important for dogs. And walking is one of the best ways to “move forward”.

Your dog will become a great companion to you, but, your dog can also be a lot of work for you. There is no such a dog that requires no work from you, but choosing the right dog for you can keep your problems to a minimum.

So how do you know what is the easiest dog for you?

There really is no such thing as a very best dog breed - everyone looks for something different in their pets depending on their own situation at the time. One example is, when my husband and I worked, we had two miniature long haired dachshunds, when my husband became disability retired and stayed home all day, we got a black lab and a golden retriever.
