I talked to a friend who lost her dog recently. (I just lost 2 of my precious dogs - Benny & Dukie). She says that her way to get over the grief is to celebrate their life by writing about the good, the funny and even the aggravating stories of their life! What a great idea.

Adopting Wildlife

Okay, so adopting an elephant doesn’t seem practical. Where would you put it? Oh, and what would the neighbours say? I am sure the poop and scoop signs will be posted prominently on your lawn in no time! Your love for wildlife is wonderful, but how can you make a difference for an elephant you can’t bring home?
A wonderful concept for you to consider is sponsorship and adoption programs that are run through various wild-life organizations. Local reserves and zoos also have these in place.

Sponsoring a pet is a way in which you can help support a pet in a shelter while she recovers from her circumstances and waits for the right family to adopt her. There are programs opening for this in more and more areas.

They may need help in becoming social again.

Cats in shelters get a bad rap. People assume if they are there, it’s because they are dirty, unloving, and don’t make good pets. People bypass the cat and go for the tiny kittens. Although there’s nothing wrong with getting a kitten from a shelter, there’s something truly special about a cat that’s lived a mile or two on this planet.
