As veterinary medicine advances, dogs are living increasingly longer. The more the age is advancing the more diseases are becoming unavoidable. Problems with vision, such as cataracts and glaucoma are common. Many of these problems occur gradually, and some people do not realize that they have a blind dog because it is used to the house, but a lot of dogs have problems to get used to their disabilities. There are many changes that you can do to make your dog’s life easier.
If your dog still sees something, than to help him you can use contrast. For example, if the floor is lighter, use a dark carpet and white bowls for food and water. The stairs can also be climbed easier if you use a contrasting color band. For example if you have dark stairs you can use a white band.
For resolving problems if you have a blind dog, you can use different “lining” materials. Foam pipe haves different lengths and can be cut into appropriate sizes to cover the length of the table legs, dining tables edges of the kitchen, corners of rooms and other. You can also use different flavors to mark certain areas. Oil-based flavors have more to do. You can mark such areas to be avoided with a certain smell, and smell one another to mark the areas that the dog needs to use. You can mark the entrance door in the house with a lemon flavor, each step with rose-tree aroma, and areas to be avoided with the smell of pine or fir-tree. Apply modest these flavors and only once in a while. A dog’s sense of smell is more developed than the people and you do not want them to be overwhelmed. We should teach the dog what each smell means.
One thing to consider as a recommendation for the arrangement of furniture is to not change its place, if the animal is familiar to them. If you dog still has problems then try to teach him to use some “ways” that are created by plastic carpets that are arranged in a particular order to make the way to a specific place. Once learned, these “ways” are great because you can direct your dog to important areas like food bowl, dog crib in the house or front door.
Don’t let your buddy suffer from loneliness and encourage him to continue the same activities as he did before. He will appreciate this very much.
